Helping good people improving their ranking and increasing their profits, business… I love when the small companies wins over the big corporate monsters.

What else do you do apart from SEO? (work wise)
At the moment SEO is my full time job, but I also work in my own sites (not as much as I would like to)… mainly I have adsense sites, affiliate sites and conventional semi-authority sites.

What is the most difficult thing of working an SEO professional?
I guess the most difficult part is to doubt yourself. I ask myself each night… Dam…Am I good enough???? Gosh… can I really rank this site?

OH MY GOD, what am I doing wrong , why is this site NOT ranking?

What’s the best part of working in the SEO industry?
When I wake up in the morning with NO hope and then I see a site ranking in 1st position. Then I Love my job.

Favorite thing to do?
Mainly spend time with my family… with my 2 rat-bags (my 2 boys) and my wife.
I also love jogging with my German Shepperd and spend some time at the beach (I live 5 minutes walking from the best beach in the world)

Plans for the future?
To do one or 2 seminars… to get fitter, to work on SEO for kids, to convince my wife that a jetski is a good idea and to keep working to learn more…

When ever you talk about SEO in forums, discussion forums… there are 3 type of “readers” or “players” . The ones that are willing to learn, the ones that know what they are talking about and the Clowns that are usually experts in all type of topics and the only information they really know about SEO is the one that they get when they google the keyword

“SEO”

Oh… clowns… I used to hate them when I was a little kid and I still hate them.

These type of clowns love to show the world how amazing their websites are and they love to watch Matt Cutts videos and read Google webmaster guidelines and forums like if GOOGLE was going to tell you exactly how the Algorithm works.

The clowns… obviously are experts in branding, social media, design, launching websites, products creation and yes… off course… SEO.

That’s why they are quick to correct you… because they are EXPERTS.

Experts with no ranking, no client, no data and no experience… that’s why they are clowns.

So how do you detect a clown from a real expert? Simple. Ask the clown to prove any of their SEO theories without “quoting” someone else, without linking to a Google page… or without linking to a lame Enzine Article about SEO.

The reality is Clowns don’t have DATA , don’t have Experience and don’t have sites where they can actually experiment changes in Google Algorithms.

That’s all… that’s the difference.

Do you remember George Foreman…? Well, I do… well.. actually I don’t remember him as a boxer… but I have seen his fight with Ali, may 100 times. I love the Ali story and I love the story behind Ali and Foreman.

If you see a photo of Ali vs Foreman you will realize one thing: Foreman used to be a BIG guy. Strong . Fast. Powerful. Scary.

But Ali was mmmm Bigger, Stronger, Faster, more Powerful… and Ali won… and became the King while Foreman became the creator of BBQ products.

So thinking of Ali vs Foreman, I recall SEO companies showing amazing testimonials with their clients website, keyword they rank and ranking position.

Mmmm … are you STUPID?

Seriously mister SEO company: Are you stupid?

Because you may think that you are Foreman… but trust me, there are a lot of Ali’s out there…. many SEO professionals and link builders ready to take you on the challenge.

Because once you put the Testimonial and tell the world how amazing you are… then you have people like me, that is going to go to your clients sites, check their backlinks and analyse what you do, how you do it and the strategy you follow to rank your clients sites.

Is this smart?

Well… I don’t think so.

Because as soon as you expose your strategy, you are giving me the data that I need to be able to find your weakness and outrank your clients.

Let’s understand this.

If you (Mister SEO company) are already broadcasting the testimonial I presume the Link Building and SEO work for that client is finished. So now you are giving me the green light to match your links, improve mine and take your ranking away. Great isn’t?

Because what many SEO companies seem to forget is that SEO is like Boxing. You need power, you need strength… but also you need Stamina.

You may win the 1st round.. but If I knock you down in round 9th … I win the fith. I become World Champion and you become a famous runner up.

So what is the answer? Let your own ranking do the talk or offer testimonial and case studies to potential clients in a confidential level. But don’t go out there, telling the world how fantastic your SEO skills, specially when you are using your client’s sites as trophies.

Your SEO success is business between you and your customers. If you are GOOD enough… you don’t need testimonials… your own customers will be so happy with you they will tell everyone and then you will be a busy SEO bee… don’t you think.

40 Posts – 6 months blogging… and 80 comments…

So it has been over 40 posts, 6 months bloggin and 80 comments and I wanted to share a bit the success (or failure) of this small SEO Consultant blog.

I haven’t spend a lot of time in the blog. In fact I wish I had spend more time in this blog…
* but my 2 boys are getting bigger by the minute and my day is full of , link building, talking to clients, SEO chats, trying to clean my messy office clean, while taking the kids to “swimming lessons, kindergym (yep.. KinderGym go figure), playgroup, toy library, etc, etc… and building my own websites…

But so far, I found the idea of this blog as a nice way to spend some minutes of my day and try go share some easy lessons about Internet Marketing, SEO and general “business logic”

So far I have made a few nice friends, mainly from forums, blogging and the so-called Social Media.

Regarding my latest stats:

Visits

The blog gets and average of 180 to 220 unique visitors per day … (not a lot… but not bad for a small SEO fish in the huge SEO ocean of “experts”)
Why people visit THIS site? No idea…
they may be just browsing or planning to Spam my humble WordPress Site.

Or may be they find things that has sort of “value”…. (you tell me!)

So I achieved first position in Google

So I realized last week I achieved 1st position in Google for the keyword SEO Consultant… and I guess I should claim: Check it out! I’m the best SEO marketer in the world… look how amazing I am, I’m first in Google for the exact keyword I want to rank. But the reality is: It wasn’t so difficult, indeed I’m pretty sure many SEO companies out there are not even trying to rank for this keyword.

So what did I learn from this “ranking” experiment

a) If you are not ranking for a keyword is because you are not doing the effort.

b) Any SEO company that pays for PPC for any SEO term… well, it means they can’t even rank for their own keywords… therefor it will be difficult to justify and prove their own skills.

c) Any ranking effort needs to have a proper strategy. Link building should have a proper time line… and clear objective. Otherwise measuring success is difficult. (just like any diet or weight loss program)

d) It feels nice to be 1st.
