Don’t forget about internal link building

So is all about links… go out there… get more links… if links is a currency… then think about them as GOLD… GOLD, gold, gold.
The more gold the better… the more good links the happier your SEO heart will be. Right?

So why do we always forget about internal link building?

Internal linking is one good example of a great SEO technique that is seems many webmasters don’t even worry to practice. The idea is simple: Internal link building enables search engines to fully know which parts of your websites are important and which search words they fall under.

No matter how smart search engine crawlers have gotten, they are still merely robots – yep… sorry guys… Google is not A PERSON… is a big and expensive software. So Google, Bing or silly Yahoo… do not have the intellectual capacity that humans have to really understand what a web page contains. They only rely on what data is provided for them and based on that they come up with calculated conclusions. When you provide them with this information, they use it to refine the results.

Internal linking is a great way for you to provide the information to these robots. For example, think that you have a business that offers WordPress widgets and one of the pages you have is a sales page. For your site to get indexed and ranked, you want to use the search term ‘WordPress widgets”. By using internal linking, you can get a link to the sales page from other pages that have the search term in them.

If all the pages on your site contains your search term and all of them have links going to the sales page, the search engine crawler will know that that particular page is about WordPress widgets, and it will give the page an appropriate ranking.

What if you want that page to be ranked for multiple keywords?

The only thing you have to do is to create internal links for multiple keywords that all go back to your sales page. This can be done over a period of time as the content of your site increases. I suggest that you concentrate on a basic keyword if you are just starting. This will lead to faster results. After you have gotten an established search phrase, you can start working on more. But see to it that you are still maintaining the basic keyword as you are working on the following ones.

Keep on doing this SEO technique to see an increase in backlinks and ranking for your site. In no time at all, it can be a leading site that rules over the niche you are focusing on (with some luck and help from me, your favorite SEO guy).

Remember: this can help you to rank for as many keywords you want to. The only limit is in how much content your site has.

I hope this make sense?

Be careful that you do not fill up your pages with links. The most that you should have is around 2-3 anchor texts on each one.

If there is more than one sales page on your site and you want them to be ranked for various search terms, you can put a maximum of 3 internal links on each one provided that there is no duplication of content.
