How to learn SEO in 6 months and become an Expert… a real EXPERT.

Ok… so you want to know this one… ohhh yes Gab, please tell me… the secret, the real SEO secret to become a real expert.

Well here it is.

1st step. Quit your job.

2nd step. Be sure to have no savings… no money, no credit card… no money.

3rd step. Build a website.

4rd step. Setup an economical goal for that site.

5th step. Get the site ranked and try to make money from it.

6th. Take the hits. Fall down and keep moving foward.

That’s it.

mmm did you expected more? Did you expected some type of “valuable” post about resources , tips, ebooks, courses and what to do and how to do it?

Sorry… wrong blog.

The reality is: If you want learn about SEO… … go and do it.

If you want to learn about link building… learn how FREAKING BORING is to do directory submission… or how time consuming is to do blog commenting … and then you will understand why I HATE SO MUCH social bookmarking.

But… you need to do it. Because SEO is about tears, blood, experience, laughs and mistakes.

I believe I know one thing or 2 about SEO thanks to ALL MY MISTAKES… thanks to ALL THE SITES THAT NEVER RANKED.

In the last 5 years… I have NOT achieve first position many times… and in fact I have achieved the opposite that many SEO gurus claimed to achieved…

1) I have been de-index from Google

2) I have lost all my ranking overnight.

3) I have lost all my page rank in one single update

4) I have experienced brutal errors in keyword research …

5) I have wasted time, energy and tons , tons of links….

But… I learned my lesson.. and I learned my lessons while I REALLY NEEDED TO RANK … and when I mean REALLY is “No money, no job, no future – type of situation”.

The problem of learning SEO in a seminar… or learning SEO from people like Bruce Clay or some of the ULTRA-gurus in the SEO field, is that SEO needs passion… needs hunger.. you need to be hungry, kind-of-angry for not achieving ranking… ready to take the world… ready to fight for THAT position.

Look at me… I outrank every single SEO company in Australia for the golden keyword of “SEO packages” … the reason?

GOD I’M HUNGRY FOR RANKING.

I want to rank so badly that even when I’m 1st … I still do link building…. I still go out there and publish 10, 15 more articles EACH WEEK….

I believe SEO is like an infinite marathon… you never really win… but you can lead for a long, long time (and leading feels like victory)

So please forget what the gurus teach about SEO. The gurus are not fighters… they are just well… business people.

Usually SEO gurus are gurus because they charge $$$$ to teach about SEO… but rarely they even do their own SEO, or rarely their business depends on their own ranking.

Just go today in Google and type SEO, or SEO consultant or SEO packages… how many of them are paying for Google Adwords? TONS!

The reason? It’s easier to go the quick way… it’s easier to take the shortcut.

So, if you want to learn about SEO, this is what to do.

Ignore the buzz… the SEO pollution… the blogs… the RSS feeds.. the new theories… the conspiracy theories… the fears that “Google is watching” and that “SEO is dead” .

Instead: Try to do it yourself….

Try to learn why things work… and why somethings sometimes don’t work.

Read about white hat… and read about blackhat… and then read about “grey hat”… and then try to apply it to your site.
Play with knowledge… because when you play, you learn… when you link build you learn.. when you find frustrations and when you discover what works for you.. then is when you become a real EXPERT.

SEO EXPERTS?

Are the people that are humble enough to realize the still need to learn a lot more.. and that anyone can do SEO. Are the ones that have lost more battles than they have won.

So ignore the crowd that tell you that SEO is complicate… or that you need to pay them because it will take you YEARS TO LEARN ALL THE TECHNIQUES ABOUT SEO – because that type of crowd are just afraid that you will learn to do it yourself.

For them, for the cowards, for the “experts”, for the Presidents of SEO companies, your ignorance is a blessing and the more they confuse you, the better.

So fight back.

Go out there, stop reading this blog and try to rank YOUR site for any silly, funny an unusual keyword…
and once you achieve some type of result. Try something a bit more difficult… and then try again…. until you are ready to face new SEO challenges…

… then is when you become an Expert. When failure is not an option and when you need to rank otherwise… you are f..c…k…
