Winners and Losers

In SEO, like in real life… there are winners and losers. And usually the winners keep working towards better results, while the losers (you know who you are), keep reading blogs like this one and claiming SEO is .. well… simply “another scam” . The funny thing in this scenario is that us, the winners, sooner or later, we will get results and convert this results into money. The losers instead will procrastinate and spend their time trying to defend their reasons for doing just nothing.

The interesting part is how many BAD losers are out there. And when I mean bad.. I refer to the people out there that can’t accept their defeat. I guess that’s why I like so much this quote of Mister Never-Nice-Guy Richard Nixon

“You must never be satisfied  with losing. You must get angry, terribly angry, about losing.
But the mark of the good loser is that he takes his anger out on himself not his victorious opponents or on his teammates”

So the question is… how to prevent defeat…

How not to be another angry looser trying to take his anger in the world…

The answer is pretty dam simple: Hard work. (and smart work)

And in the SEO game, the answer is just the same.

Regardless of your industry, niche… SEO will always be about building links and building links is boring.

Oh Yes! Boring , boring, Boring… but if you want to be a Winner in SEO… you need to do it.

So what’s the solution?

To complain less and build more.

Build more sites.
Build more links
Create more hubpages or squidoo lenses.
Write more amazing-kick-*s content in your site
Submit more articles to Articles Directories
Get better inbound links
Improve the overall quality of your site…

and once you finish… don’t waste your time spending 1 hour in your favorite forum… or watching “Master Chef”…. instead do it all again.

And the keep going until you get tired and once you get tired, do it again….

But it’s not easy. In my case I do it because is my job and I get paid to do it…. but once you are doing it for yourself, for your own sites, staying motivated is hard, specially when we talk about SEO.

Top 5 Reasons why quitting SEO is easy:

1. You have to wait.
It is a long term plan… what you do TODAY will have benefits in 7 or 9 months time… like a pregnancy … you can’t really “rush” things. And that…mm sucks.

2. There is no Magic Bullet.
(Regarldess what type of scheme you buy or amazing software or “unique” membership system… nothing you do or buy provides guarantee results)

3. Paying for PPC is easy.
Want traffic today? Easy pay Big Google for your traffic.
Does paying sucks?  Yes.. but hey… you get the traffic THE SAME day.

4. The rules change… all the time.

SEO is based on Search Engines… and search engines change their algorithm all the times. So what is HOT today… tomorrow will be classic history.
So once you know all the answers to the exam… the teacher can change the questions (and that sucks a lot!) .

5. Is difficult to find clear information about SEO.
Have you ever read an SEO blog that is clear about SEO? (lol)
Have you ever had SEO explained in human-English?
The overcomplication-of-SEO seems to be a common “virus” that affect all the SEO consultants.

So if you are planning to quit your SEO plans … my best suggestion is to do so.

Please DO Quit. Because it’s a jungle out there and the more people that quit… well the better for all of us that are still in the game.

I will love to say “Hand out there” … or BE STRONG… or NEVER GIVE UP.

But I think is better for YOU to give up NOW if you are not willing to be Number 1.

Winning has nothing to do with skills… talent… money…  Instead is about being 100% obsessed to achieve results and to realize how great we are.

I started with SEO, tried just about everything else, and came back to it.

For me, its the only way to truly build assets that have some staying power.

I lost a lot of money on all the quick fix, short cut crap that just had me on a treadmill.

But with SEO, I don’t have to be a technical wizard, always trying to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Following the fundamentals works and sticking with it gets you somewhere.

Its running the long race and if you want to build a business its true business building stuff
